Youth Cafe

Abbeyleix now has its own Youth Cafe. A place where teenagers can meet and hang out together. Teenagers meet on Friday nights but hope to extend opening times over the Christmas and during holiday periods. The cafe is equipped with desktop and laptop computers with internet access, TVs and projector, WII and PS3 consoles and games, Pool, air hockey, football and table tennis tables. For those who want to just sit and chat are also catered for. A graffiti Taster workshop is scheduled for Sat 4th Dec as part of Abbeyleix Discovery day and will be followed by a 6 week project to brighten up some of the Park Black spots, decide on a name for Cafe and a design for signage. A film show is also planned for Discovery day at 4.00pm. There are a number of workshops/Demonstrations planned for in coming months to include Hairdressing and make-up, Music sessions, Photography , Drama and Card clubs. A pool & Table Tennis table competition will take place over the Christmas. A Teenage table Quiz is also planned. Hopefully something for everyone.
